Google " NEW MEET " : The Latest Version of Google Meet
Google
Google Meet Redesign and New Features
In October 2024, Google Meet introduced a redesigned call interface featuring a new "New" button, designed to make video conferencing more intuitive and accessible. The button is located in the bottom right corner of the screen and opens a revamped "Start a call" page. This update includes user-friendly features such as "Create Link," "Schedule," and "New Groups" options, which streamline the meeting setup process. The design overhaul aims to modernize the platform, making it easier for users to initiate calls and manage contacts.
Another addition is the new "Code" shortcut on the home screen, which allows users to quickly enter a meeting code to join video calls. This is part of Google Meet's ongoing effort to simplify its interface while maintaining powerful features. For Google Workspace users, Google Meet has also rolled out AI-powered features such as automatic note-taking, which generates detailed meeting notes, further enhancing productivity.
The latest version of Google Meet, v266, includes these changes. Users are encouraged to update their app to access the new features, and if the redesigned interface doesn't appear immediately, restarting the app may solve the issue.
AI-Powered Features
Automatic Note-Taking in Google Meet
In August 2024, Google introduced a significant AI-powered feature to Google Meet.
automatic note-taking. This feature, called 🔹️"Take notes for me,"🔹️ uses Google’s Gemini AI to automatically generate meeting summaries and notes based on what was discussed. It streamlines the process of capturing important information during meetings, eliminating the need for manual note-taking.
The 🔸️automatic note-taking🔸️ feature is particularly useful for tracking key decisions, action items, and discussions without requiring participants to write anything down. It processes user input and audio during the meeting and produces a coherent summary afterward, which is shared with the meeting participants.
However, this feature is currently limited to 🔹️Google Workspace🔸️ subscribers and is part of Google’s broader effort to integrate AI into its productivity tools, making meetings more efficient for users who rely on detailed documentation and streamlined workflows.
Google aims to enhance the productivity experience by reducing the burden of manual documentation for professionals who attend multiple meetings daily.
