Google GEMINI : The Redesign Extends to Gemini Advanced Versions
Google
Gemini UI Redesign on Android
Google's Gemini AI has received a notable UI redesign on Android. This update simplifies the app's homescreen by removing older elements like the "Chats & Gems" section and the suggestions carousel. Instead, users are greeted with a personalized "Hello, [name]" message and a minimalistic chat bubble for accessing history.
The redesign also streamlines the text input field, combining the microphone and camera options into a single line, making the interface more compact and user-friendly.
Additionally, the update introduces a floating panel with a glowing animation, allowing Gemini to integrate seamlessly with other apps without overwhelming the screen. This design keeps users' workflow smooth while offering an immersive AI experience when expanded.
These changes are now rolling out widely on Android but haven't reached iOS yet.
Google's Gemini AI on Android has undergone a significant redesign aimed at making the interface simpler and more streamlined. Here are the key details.
π΄ Simplified Homescreen
The previous homescreen with the "Gemini" or "Gemini Advanced" logo, a carousel of suggestions, and the "Chats & Gems" section has been replaced with a cleaner interface. Now, the app greets the user with a personalized "Hello, [name]" message. A chat bubble icon in the top-left allows easy access to the user's conversation history.
π΅ Streamlined Text Input
The large input prompt for typing, talking, or sharing a photo has been condensed into a single line. This line includes a microphone/camera icon within the text field, and an expandable feature restores the original UI if needed.
π Floating Panel with Glowing Animation
A standout feature is the new floating panel that appears when Gemini is summoned. It features a glowing animation that blends with the user’s current app without taking over the screen. This panel can be expanded for a more immersive experience, making it easier to multitask.
The panel is designed to provide seamless interaction with other apps. For instance, it supports drag-and-drop for images directly into apps like Gmail or Google Messages.
π’ YouTube Integration
The update also enhances YouTube interactions by introducing an "Ask about this video" chip. This feature replaces the older "Ask about this screen" prompt and allows users to easily get summaries or ask questions about the video content, improving comprehension and reducing note-taking.
π‘ Gemini Live and Advanced
The redesign extends to Gemini Live and Advanced versions, improving their conversational features. While the floating panel is available to all users, more advanced functionalities like Gemini Live require a paid subscription.
π£ Wide Rollout
It's now widely available to all Gemini users on Android. However, iOS users have yet to see these changes.
Overall, this redesign aims to enhance user experience by offering a cleaner, more intuitive interface while maintaining powerful AI functionalities.
