Australian man finds hair growth inside throat doctors attribute it to heavy smoking

Certainly! A **52-year-old Australian man** developed an unusual condition where he experienced **hair growth inside his throat**, and doctors suspect that **heavy smoking** may be the cause. The man had been a heavy smoker for nearly **30 years**. Initially, he sought medical attention at the age of 35 due to symptoms like **respiratory distress attacks at night, snoring, hoarseness, and chronic coughing**. He even **coughed out a hair** that was **5 cm long**. Doctors initially removed the hair and treated him with antibiotics due to bacterial growth. However, the hair regrowth persisted, likely stemming from a previous throat surgery he had as a child. Eventually, after quitting smoking and undergoing an **endoscopic argon plasma coagulation**, the issue was resolved, and no further hair growth was observed¹.
